Gourmet Cooking - Continuing and Beginning Students

This popular class returns and is offered on both Mondays and Tuesdays! Come learn the tricks of a Chef, as Chef Chris Allen and his Le Cordon Bleu-trained staff come to Walter Reed for cooking fun.  This culinary team will give students a hands-on approach to creating in the kitchen while they learn to make some easy and delicious dishes from around the world.


Musical Theatre – Beginning and Experienced Students

Whether you are Broadway bound or you just love show tunes, this class is for you. Students will experience musical theatre and will explore acting, singing, movement for the stage, audition techniques, and character development, drawing from popular musicals.


Free Math Tutoring - For All Reed Students

Ms. Naomi Harper-Kaidin, former STEAM Academy teacher and current SLC/Title 1 Coordinator at WRMS along with other teachers and tutors will provide tutoring and homework help for students at no cost. Please note: this class begins 8/22 and runs for 9 weeks. Registration is required although there is no fee for this class.


Games & App Design – Beginners & Experienced App Creators

Taught by the skilled staff at ComputerWiseKids, students will start programming and build fully functional apps for Android devices right in their web browsers using cloud-based tool, MIT App Inventor. This blocks-based programming tool allows everyone, including novices, to start creating right away. Students will drag-and-drop visual objects to create a functional application. This class emphasizes that programming can be a vehicle for engaging powerful ideas through active learning. Students will make different applications, that they design, for specific use like entertainment or to work as a tool.


Free English Tutoring – For All Reed Students

Brand new this year, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students provide peer-to-peer tutoring and homework help at no cost. Please note: this class begins 8/22 and runs for 9 weeks. Registration is required although there is no fee for this class.


Chess Club - All Levels

Students learn to play chess and help them succeed in school by stimulating their problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Includes exclusive booklets and worksheets. Win certificates, medals, and trophies!


Robotics 101: Robotics Engineering - Beginners and Some Experience

Led by Engineering For Kids, students will use LEGO® MINDSTORMS® to learn the basics of designing, programming, and controlling a fully functional robot. Using mathematical concepts, and engineering principles, students will brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish robotic tasks. Students will also learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors.


Animal Invasion – All Animal Lovers!

Your child will experience and interact with all kinds of amazing live creatures including Reptiles, Amphibians, Mammals, Birds, Insects and more! Don’t miss out on all the fun, games and most importantly the animals! Even if your student took this class last year new animals will be brought in every week!


Learn JavaScript Code - Beginners

This class by ComputerWiseKids is for kids who have NEVER written JAVASCRIPT code before, or they are completely new to the world of web programming. Students will learn how to work with Developer tools to iterate, debug and profile their code. We will develop a game using the basic concepts and learn the fundamentals of JavaScript programming. We will create our own version of Pac Man game, and discover the vital concepts of object-oriented programming. JavaScript is the most widely-used programming language for web development and that's not all! It has evolved over the years and is now being implemented in an array of environments from websites to robotics. Kids will learn everything they need to get started with serious web application development.
